Working at the grassroot level is not an easy task. We are lucky to have support of people who are internally motivated and driven to bring about a change in Math and Science education. Our team consists of content developers, teachers, community engagement experts and carpenters. We are a bunch of passionate people who love to explore and innovate ways to make Math and Science fun for everyone.

Meet the Founders

Sandhya and Sarit, both PhDs in Electrical Engineering from USA, worked as research scientists in USA for over 15 years. They then relocated to a small village called Kandbari in the Himachal Pradesh region of India with hopes to engage with the society.

They were pleasantly surprised at the number of opportunities available and the willingness of so many others to support. They combined their skill and passion to start Aavishkaar, a center with a goal to make Science and Math fun, easy, experiential and accessible.

Sarit is a technology enthusiast, a science teacher, a story teller and a business idea dreamer. He is an engineer by training with a PhD in Electrical Engineering (Electromagnetics) from Iowa State University (Iowa, USA) with several publications and patents. He has worked in Technology Research for 20 years in US before moving to Himachal in 2009. He has been involved in mud building methods for many years. He also enjoys working with their neighborhood communities to make learning a joyful experience for all. He is also engaged in setting up libraries in near by communities.

Sandhya is an electrical engineer, a math & science enthusiast, and a women’s education advocate. She has a PhD in Electrical Engineering (Semiconductor) from Iowa State University (Iowa, USA) with several publications and patents. She also has a Masters in Public Affairs from the Humphery Institute at the University of Minnesota. She has worked in Semiconductor Technology Research for 20 years in US.
